The unit applies to the selection of standard textile finishing processes within a textile manufacturing environment to ensure products and processes meet specifications, specified job requirements and standards of quality and design. Finishing processes and procedures are documented using standard recording procedures.
Work may be conducted in small to large scale enterprises and may involve individual and team activities.
The application of this unit is according to OHS practices of the enterprise and workplace practices, which may include:
requirements prescribed by legislation, awards, agreements and conditions of employment
standard operating procedures
work instructions
oral, written and visual communication
quality practices, including responsibility for maintenance of own work quality and contribution to quality improvement of team or section output
Housekeeping tasks related to environmental protection, waste disposal, pollution control, and recycling
This unit requires the application of skills associated with problem solving and planning and organising to determine requirements for textile finishing. This unit also requires an ability to test and validate finishing procedures and identify deviations from specifications. Communication skills will be used to interpret finishing specifications, analyse information, and document procedures.
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to determine appropriate textile finishing processes within a textile manufacturing environment.
